Help Us Bring An End to Violence Against Women

One in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped in her lifetime. (source) That’s ONE BILLION women. It may be a scary fact, but we’re not afraid of stepping up to help end this violence. And we’re asking you to join us.

On February 14, 2013, Safe Connections (one of our outreach partners) is hosting a One Billion Rising event at the Missouri History Museum. From 4:30 to 5:00pm, members of Leverage Dance Theater will lead the community in a dance. (Learn it by watching this video.) Through events like this across the globe, we’ll demonstrate our collective strength, our refusal of the status quo, and our solidarity in demanding change. We hope you’ll be there, too.

From OneBillionRising.org: “We are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country.”

One billion women violated is an atrocity. One billion women dancing is a revolution. Join us on this important day. RSVP online or contact Katie Flaschar at 314.646.7500 x123 or katie@safeconnections.org.
